HC Deb 30 June 1975 vol 894 cc300-1W
Mr. Ovenden

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many firms in the Medway employment area with a quota obligation at present employ 3 per cent. or more of registered disabled people; and how many employ less than this figure;

(2) how many firms in the Gravesend employment area with a quota obligation at present employ 3 per cent. or more of registered disabled people; and how many employ less than this figure.

Mr. John Fraser

195 firms in the Medway area, including 33 in the Gravesend area, with quota obligations employ their quota; and 290, including 35 in the Gravesend area, do not.

Mr. Ovenden

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many extra jobs for disabled people would be provided if those firms in the Medway employment area which at present do not do so employed 3 per cent. of disabled people in their work force;

(2) how many extra jobs for disabled people would be provided if those firms in the Gravesend employment area which at present do not do so employed 3 per cent. of disabled people in their work force.

Mr. John Fraser

If all the firms with quota obligations in the Medway area fulfilled their quota, at least a further 1,000 jobs would be provided for registered disabled people. Of these about 70 would be in the Gravesend area.
