HC Deb 30 June 1975 vol 894 c287W
Mr. Mike Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many and what proportion of local authority dwelling in the United Kingdom have no gas supply.

Mr. Freeson

I regret that this information is not available, but it is estimated that about 2 million local authority and new town tenants, one-third of the total in Great Britain, do not have a gas meter; in some cases this will be because the tenant has chosen not to use gas although a service to the dwelling may be available.

Mr. Mike Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many and what proportion of tenants in local authority dwellings in the United Kingdom effectively have no alternative to the use of electric heating.

Mr. Freeson

I regret that the information is not available.
