§ Mr. JohnAbout 20 civilians employed by the Ministry of Defence will become redundant in their present posts when the Royal Air Force's use of the airfield at Andover ceases in 1976. With the exception of one due to retire on age grounds, it is hoped to offer them alternative employment at other Service establishments, either in the area, or in the case of those having a liability to transfer, wherever suitable vacancies exist. The servicing of the Royal Air Force aircraft at Andover is, however, carried out at the station by a civilian firm under contract. This requirement will cease when the aircraft are withdrawn but the effect on the labour force will be a matter for the contractor to decide.
