asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many industrial development certificates were granted in the Leek parliamentary constituency during each of the past five years.

Statistics in respect of industrial development certificates are related to employment exchange areas. The figures for the Biddulph, Cheadle, Leek and Kidsgrove employment exchange areas combined are as follows:

1975 (1st quarter) … Nil

Exemption limits were raised in December 1970 and July 1972 and lowered in September 1974.
