§ Dr. Hampsonasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will publish in the Official Report the details of the case which he has presented to the European Commission on the need to conclude agreements with low-cost producers of wool textile goods to limit the level of imports into the United Kingdom, and details of the position adopted by the Commission indicating the outstanding differences.
§ Mr. KaufmanThe United Kingdom wool textile industry, which exports its products worldwide and makes a major contribution to the United Kingdom balance of trade, has not put forward a case for limiting imports of wool textile goods from low-cost producers. Imports from State trading countries are already controlled by quotas. In consequence the question of the United Kingdom putting a case to the EEC Commission has not arisen.
