§ Mr. Roy JenkinsIn accordance with Section 3(2) of the Police Act 1964 two-thirds of the members of the Northumbria Police Authority are county councillors and one-third are magistrates. It is for the police authority to determine its procedures and standing orders, but I hope that all police authorities recognise the valuable contribution which magistrate members can make to their work.
