asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether in the light of the Statement made by the Minister of State for the Department of Energy on 24th March 1975 (Official Report, col. 966), they will:

  1. (a) report on the present position in regard to actual production of oil from rigs at present in operation in the North Sea;
  2. (b) estimate the amount of oil which will be produced from these rigs now in operation for each of the years 1975, 1976 and 1977.

I would direct the noble Lord's attention to the 1975 Report to Parliament by my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Energy, entitled:Development of the Oil and Gas Resources of the United Kingdom. The Report contains information about rig activity and production forecasts. Offshore exploration on the United Kingdom Continental Shelf during 1975 has been at a higher level than ever before. I am sending a copy of the Report to the noble Lord.
