§ Mr. Churchillasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to amend the Shops Act 1950 to deal with the anomaly in the Act whereby it is illegal for a fish and chip fryer to sell fish and chips on Sundays although it is not illegal for the same sale to be made by a "take-away" food shop.
§ Dr. SummerskillWe are aware of this and other anomalies in the Act but cannot say when it may be possible to introduce amending legislation on the subject.
