§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his estimate of the number of wheelchair users who do not venture out of doors because they are prevented by the design of their house and the access to and from it.
§ Mr. William RossI have no basis for making such an estimate. Housing authorities have been urged, in a circular issued on 29th May, to undertake, in association with social work authorities and health boards, local surveys to enable detailed assessments of the housing needs of handicapped people in their areas to be made. They have also been asked to give greater priority to these needs in allocating their housing resources.
