asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the value of family allowances as a percentage of the average full-time male manual weekly earnings in 1974 for two-, three-and four-child families.

On the basis of the gross average full-time weekly earnings of adult male manual workers in manufacturing and certain other industries the required information is:

Two-child family 1.9 per cent.
Three-child family 3.9 per cent.
Four-child family 6.0 per cent.
