§ Mr. Fernyhoughasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, in his discussions with the EEC about direct elections to the European Parliament, he will make it clear that it is the United Kingdom's policy that membership of the European Parliament should not be confined to existing members of national legislatures, but that anyone entitled to stand for election to the United Kingdom Parliament should be able to be a candidate.
