§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) if he will make use of the good offices of the Prime Minister of 18W Fiji in the dispute concerning the future of the Banaban people;
(2) what discussions have been held with Pacific Heads of Government about the future of Ocean Island.
§ Mr. RowlandsWe have had some confidential discussions with the Chief Minister of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands and with friendly Governments about the problems of the Banaban community. I would particularly mention the helpful attitude of the Prime Minister of Fiji. I am not in a position to say more at present.
