§ Mr. McNamaraasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will make a statement on the progress made by the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service in resolving the Newmarket stable lads' dispute.
§ Mr. BoothI understand that a joint meeting of the parties under the auspices of the independnt Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service on Sunday 13th July reached agreement on pay which was acceptable to their respective members but that a settlement of the dispute now turns on the reinstatement of the strikers. The ACAS remains in close touch with the parties.
