Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what is now the index or average cost per meal for eating out in the London area, in the provinces and in the country as a whole, respectively; and how this compares with comparative indices of costs for 1st April 1975, 1974 and 1970.
§ Mr. MaclennanInformation collected for the General Index of Retail Prices shows that in May 1975 the cost of meals in restaurants and cafés was 2 per cent., 24 per cent, and 117 per cent, higher than in April 1975, April 1974 and April 1970, respectively. No comparable information is available on a regional basis.
