HC Deb 17 July 1975 vol 895 c592W
Mr. Fairbairn

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, in view of the recent case of incest in Dunblane, if he will take steps designed to protect children who have been the victims of a criminal offence at the hands of one or other parent from further assault, when such parent resumes cohabitation in the family home at the conclusion of any sentence imposed.

Mr. William Ross

There is close cooperation between prison authorities and local social work authorities before release in such cases. If the local authority considered that specific action was necessary to protect a child's interests it could refer the child to the reporter to the children's panel or, where the child was already in care, assume parental rights.
