asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the Government's policy on the sale to foreign countries of nuclear equipment and technology.

Mr. Ennals

The Government's policy is to enable all countries to share in the benefits of nuclear science through trade in equipment and technology, wherever this can be done in conformity with the entry clearance offices in Pakistan in each of the last three years and during the first six months of this year; how many applications were approved; and how many applications were rejected;

(2) how many applications from immigrants claiming that they are entitled to settle in the United Kingdom are currently under consideration at embassy offices in Pakistan; and how long must applicants wait for an interview by an entry clearance officer.
