§ Mr. StrangNo grants are currently being paid from EEC sources for forestry in Great Britan. The United Kingdom and other member States are discussing a proposal for a Council directive on forestry measures aimed at promoting an effective pattern of land use and the improvement of agricultural structures and productivity. In general our view is that the nature and scale of assistance to private forestry should be determined by individual member States according to their particular needs.
