§ Dr. GilbertSince October 1972 all new diesel-engined vehicles have been required to be fitted with engines type 4 approved to BS AU141a: 1971, which sets specific standards for the emission of diesel smoke. In practice, however, engines do not always meet these standards and I am considering what new measures are required to improve production conformity.
