§ Mr. DeakinsOn 1st January 1963 the President of the Board of Trade had made 34 public appointments at salaries totalling £40,350. On 1st January 1975, 54 persons held public appointments within his gift at salaries totalling £302,992. These increases, of 59 per cent. and and 651 per cent., respectively, are largely the result of changes in departmental responsibilities.
