Mr. Carmichael

In England 262.9 miles of motorways are in the firm programme and 262.7 in the preparation pool. Added to the 165.9 miles under construction and the 1,065 miles in use, the total mileage now planned is 1,756.5 miles. These figures do not include local authority motorways.

Motorways in Wales are the responsibility of my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
