§ Dr. OwenOur long-term policy is that comprehensive facilities for the treatment, rehabilitation and care of the mentally ill should be provided as near as practicable to patients' homes.
§ 44. Mr. Moonmanasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action she proposes to take on the report on Facilities and Services of Mental Illness and Mental Handicap Hospitals; and if she will make a statement.
§ Dr. OwenThe data published in the recent report relates to 1972. Data which have yet to be published indicate that in78W 1973 there was further progress in general towards the minimum standards set for these hospitals by my Department. Health authorities were reminded last year of the need to give high priority to attaining standards set for achievement during 1974.
