§ Mr. Wyn Robertsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many persons in receipt of family income supplement are currently paying income tax.
§ Mr. Robert SheldonIt is not known precisely how many families receiving family income supplement are currently paying income tax. However, it is estimated that between 27,000 and 31,000—or 35 to 40 per cent.—of families receiving the supplement in August 1974 had weekly incomes at that time in excess of their tax thresholds expressed at a weekly rate.
