HC Deb 23 January 1975 vol 884 c464W
Mr. Prescott

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what requests for assistance, and what prior notice of closure, he received from the Imperial Typewriter producing unit in Hull; and what steps he is taking to provide assistance.

Mr. John Fraser

No requests for assistance or prior notice of closure were received.

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that since the closure was announced, officers of the Employment Service Agency have been in touch with the firm and have offered the full range of their services. All those who may be made redundant have been invited to register for employment, and interviewing facilities are being made available at the factory so that workers may be given advice on opportunities for alternative employment and for training and retraining.
