asked the Secretary of State for Energy what progress has been made in agreeing with neighbouring countries an allocation of the seabed of the English Channel for the purposes of hydrocarbon exploration and recovery.

The Prime Minister and the President of France agreed last year to submit the delimitation of the United Kingdom-France Continental Shelf to arbitration. Good progress is being made in working out details of the arbitration agreement.
