§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Minister for the Civil Service what progress is being made on the dispersal of Civil Service departments to Merseyside; and what plans he has to disperse additional jobs to the area.
§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisThe programme announced by the Lord President on 30th July 1974 concerning the relocation of some 31,000 Civil Service posts outside London included 3,400 posts which are to go to Merseyside. The five Departments involved in dispersal to Merseyside are now engaged in the necessary detailed preparation, and consideration is being given to the selection of sites for new office accommodation. Since the July announcement some 280 posts not included in the figure of 3,400 in Her Majesty's Customs and Excise have been established in Liverpool. There are currently no further plans to disperse work from the London area to Merseyside.
