§ Mr. James Lamondasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what would be the cost of the tax credit proposals as set out in the Green Paper "Proposals for a Tax Credit System" Cmnd 5116, HMSO 1972—both with and without the amendments proposed by the Select Committee on the tax credit system—as set out in the report and proceedings of the Committee, 26th June 1973—all at 1975 costs and benefit levels.
§ Mr. Robert SheldonThere is no objective basis on which to re-cost in 1975 prices the Green Paper estimates for a tax credit scheme, and in any event I regret that such an estimate would require a disproportionate expenditure of resources.
