Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) if, through the United Nations, he will now seek to fix a date for holding the United Nations World Disarmament Conference; and if he will take steps to secure the representation of the nongovernmental organisations at this conference, and to arrange for an NGO conference to consider the agenda six months before the Disarmament Conference;

(2) if, at the United Nations World Disarmament Conference, Her Majesty's Government intend to press for general and complete disarmament.

Mr. Ennals

The United Kingdom has Participated in the work of the United Nations Ad Hoc Committee charged with examining views of Governments on the conditions for the convening of a World Disarmament Conference and related problems. The committee's report was considered at the recent session of the United Nations General Assembly which adopted, unanimously, a resolution expressing the view thatit does not yet seem possible to reach a final conclusion with regard to the convening of a World Disarmament Conference".
