HC Deb 26 February 1975 vol 887 c169W
Mr. Graham

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will make a statement on the existing controls over agricultural rents.

Mr. Peart

The Government have decided that the current restrictions on agricultural rents should be discontinued. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and I are accordingly making an order under the Counter-Inflation Act 1973 to provide that the restrictions shall cease to operate from 28th May 1975 throughout Great Britain.

I hope that this announcement will give adequate notice to landlords and tenants of what we propose.
