Mr. John Morris

No.

Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what Acts govern the payment of expenses to local authority councillors in respect of accompanying schoolchildren on overseas educational visits; and what restrictions there are to such payments.

Mr. John Morris

The Local Government Act 1972 governs the payment of expenses to members of local authorities. The maximum rates of attendance, travelling and subsistence allowances payable under this Act are prescribed or specified and are paid for the performance of approved duties.
