§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many jobs have been lost and new jobs created in manufacturing industry in Northern Ireland in the years 1972, 1973 and 1974, respectively.
§ Mr. OrmeIt is not possible to say precisely how many jobs have been lost or created in manufacturing industry. During 1972, 1973 and 1974 the numbers of jobs lost through closures and redundancies notified by companies to the Government totalled 1,321, 429 and 1,447 respectively. During the same years the industrial development organisation of the Department of Commerce and the Local Enterprises Development Unit promoted 7,984, 6,861 and 5,904 jobs.
