Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for Industry what representations he has received from the United Kingdom Zip Manufacturers' Association about the effect of Japanesse imports of fasteners and parts on the United Kingdom fastener industry; what reply he has sent; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MeacherThe Zip Fastener Manufacturers' Association has made representations to us on the need to restrain imports of Japanese zip fasteners and parts. In support of its case it has recently submitted a detailed report on the effects of these imports on the home industry and, as I said in the Adjournment debate on 19th February, we are considering this in consultation with the Department of Trade.
