HC Deb 24 February 1975 vol 887 cc35-6W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) what are the world production figures of helium and the quantities produced for the last year for which figures are available by the leading producers, including the USSR, the United States of America and Canada;

(2) what is the consumption of helium in the Federal Republic of Germany, France and Italy in the last year for which figures are available.

Mr. Deakins

No information is available.

Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the availability of helium in North Sea gas.

Mr. John Smith

I have been asked to reply.

Small quantities of helium are contained in the natural gas being produced from the Southern Basin of the North Sea. The concentrations, however, are too low for economic recovery.
