HC Deb 21 February 1975 vol 886 cc556-7W
Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) what is the percentage of primary school children using temporary accommodation in Leicestershire at the latest available date; and how this compares with the same figure nationally;

(2) what is the percentage of secondary school children using temporary accommodation in Leicestershire at the latest available date; and how this compares with the same figure nationally.

Mr. Prentice

The Leicestershire Education Authority estimate is that 18 per cent. of its primary pupils and 16 per cent. of its secondary school pupils are using temporary classrooms. These figures would be higher if all forms of temporary accommodation, including hired premises, were taken into account. Comparable national figures are not available at present.
