HC Deb 19 February 1975 vol 886 cc441-2W
Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales when he anticipates completion of the M4 motorway, the Carmarthen southern bypass and the dual carriageway line to St. Clears; and whether these estimated completion dates are different from those previously announced.

Mr. John Morris

Work on the M4 Pontardulais bypass is due to be completed towards the end of 1976. It is not possible to give precise dates for the completion of the remaining sections, but good progress is being made and it remains my aim to have this motorway completed at the earliest possible date. It is also too early to say when the Carmarthen southern bypass and the improvements of the remaining lengths of A40 to beyond St. Clears will be completed. Progress on these schemes depends on the satisfactory completion of the statutory procedures and the availability of finance.
