§ Mr. MeacherThe basing point price system was introduced for Treaty of Paris products by all iron and steel producers in the United Kingdom on 30th April 1973. The British Steel Corporation selected 12 basing points, after consultation with its customers, and these were accepted by the Commission of the European Communities. The points are as follows:
