§ 31. Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Trade what study he has made of the manpower problems in his Department involved in separating Scottish trade statistics from English trade statistics.
§ Mr. DeakinsThe distinction suggested is not a practicable one. If it were practicable it might not add much to the manpower costs in my Department, but it would add significantly to the resources required in Her Majesty's Customs which collects and compiles the trade figures. And a major burden of providing the required information would fall on industry and trade.
