Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Industry (1) how many of the staff of the British Steel Corporation are currently in receipt of a salary of more than (a) £2,500 per annum, (b) £5,000 per annum, and (c) £7,500 per annum; what proportions these represent of the total workforce; and how this compares with the situation in the steel industry in France, Germany and the Benelux countries, respectively;

(2) how many of the staff of the Post Office are currently in receipt of a salary of more than (a) £2,500 per annum, (b) £5,000 per annum, and (c) £7,500 per annum; what proportions these represent of the total workforce; and how this compares with the situation in the post and telecommunications services in France. Germany and Switzerland, respectively.
