HC Deb 13 February 1975 vol 886 c205W
Mr. Magee

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will seek to abolish the rule which requires a married woman to have her husband's permission in writing before she can join the WRAC.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

No. It is considered to be a wise precaution that both the husband and wife should be fully aware of, and accept, all the consequences of either spouse joining the Army. In the case of legally separated or divorced applicants, of either sex, no consent is required.
