HC Deb 13 February 1975 vol 886 c209W
Mr. Mike Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is his Department's estimate of the average winter temperature in premises affected by his restrictions on heating before and after the restrictions were imposed.

Mr. Varley

My Department does not collect statistics on average winter temperature indoors. Since 13th January, 1975 except in special circumstances, 68°F (20°C) has been the maximum temperature permitted by law in premises not used as living accommodation. If evidence suggests that there is disregard of these regulations I shall not hesitate to take appropriate action.
