HC Deb 13 February 1975 vol 886 cc214-5W
Mr. Ronald Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what progress has been made by the committee of inquiry she has set up into the circumstances of the recent fire at Fairfield Old People's Home at Edwalton in Nottinghamshire.

Mrs. Castle

I understand that the majority of written evidence has now been assembled and that the Treasury Solicitor and counsel to the committee are in the process of sifting it under the direction of the chairman. The inquiry opened on Thursday 30th January, in London, to hear representations from counsel, solicitors, interested parties and witnesses. It then adjourned until Monday 3rd March, when it will reopen in Nottingham for the hearing of evidence in public.
