§ Mr. Adam Butlerasked the Minister of Overseas Development what consultations she has had with NATO allies about the provision of co-ordinated transport for disaster relief under NATO auspices.
§ Mrs. HartI have had no such consultations, although, as was said in a reply given to the hon. Member on 13th January—[Vol. 884, c. 50]—NATO has long-standing arrangements to assist in natural disasters, primarily within the NATO area. We continue to believe that a suitably strengthened United Nations Disaster Relief Office has an important rôle to play in the co-ordination of donor responses.
