§ 22. Mr. Charles Morrisonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate he has made of the effect on beef supplies in 1976 of the rate of calf slaughterings over the last 12 months; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BishopFollowing a period of rapid expansion of the national herd, with a high level of calf retentions, calf slaughterings reverted in 1974 to a level accepted as normal in the 1960s. At present there is no indication that this rate of calf slaughterings will cause a shortage of supplies in 1976.
