HC Deb 11 February 1975 vol 886 c114W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied with the standards of health in food processing factories.

Dr. Owen

I have been asked to reply.

Food processing factories, like other food establishments, are subject to the requirements of the Food Hygiene (General) Regulations 1970, which the local authorities enforce. The regulations are designed to ensure that the consumer receives food that is kept clean and is safe to eat, and includes provisions concerning the health of the food handlers. Strict enforcement of the regulations should ensure satisfctory standards.
