§ Mr. MulleyFrom next April local authorities will receive Government assistance towards their transport expenditure through both rate support grant and, if their accepted transport expenditure exceeds a threshold, transport supplementary grant. It is not possible to say how much of the rate support grant received by local authorities in Lancashire is for transport purposes. For these reasons,68W comparison of overall supplementary grant figures alone would be misleading. Within its overall allocation, each county received supplementary grant on its own estimate of revenue support contributions in 1974–75 plus a 20 per cent. margin. Lancashire's grant for this purpose was £0.08 per head. The figures for Greater London, Greater Manchester and Merseyside were £10.6, £2.7 and £4, respectively.
