HC Deb 10 February 1975 vol 886 cc56-7W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Social Services if she will instruct the Motor Industry Research Association to arrange for the publication of the MIRA reports on the wind performance and interior noise levels of the Model 70 invalid tricycle, by deleting all reference to other vehicles used for comparability purposes.

Mr. Alfred Morris

A synopsis containing relevant data from the MIRA reports on the effect of side winds on the Model 70 was placed in the Library of the House following the statement made by my right hon. Friend on 25th March 1974.—[Vol. 871, c. 30–7.]

MIRA has carried out a series of tests on the interior noise level of the Model 70. Subject to MIRA's agreement, and the deletion of information that would be prejudicial to commercial confidentiality, I am arranging for copies of these reports to be placed in the Library.

Modifications designed to reduce interior noise level in the Model 70 are under consideration as part of the ongoing programme of development.

Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether the Model 70 invalid tricycle at any time during the side-wind tests carried out for her Department by the Motor Industry Research Association was blown over or nearly blown over at any speed; if so, what speed it was doing at the time; and whether or not it was listed in the formal MIRA wind gust test report.

Mr. Alfred Morris

No.
