§ Mr. David Walderasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many accidents involving loss of life or injury have occurred on the Whalley-Clitheroe bypass in the last year; and how that figure compares with the previous year and the national average for similar roads.
§ Mr. CarmichaelThere were 10 accidents during the first 11 months of 1974 compared with 24 in the whole of 1973. The accident rate on this stretch of road over the three years 1971–73 was about two-thirds the average for all rural A roads in Great Britain.
