§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he has taken to ensure that in considering significant residential, commercial or 482W industrial development his inspectors and local authorities only permit or recommend for his approval future development which is, or which will be, well placed for service by public transport.
§ Mr. John SilkinThe availabilty of public transport to serve new development may be a material consideration in deciding whether to grant planning permission, but the absence of such transport may not alone be a sufficient reason for refusing it.
