HC Deb 04 February 1975 vol 885 c495W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Industry (1) if, in his talks with the British Leyland Motor Corporation, he will investigate the apparent inability of that company to maintain supplies of spare parts for bus fleets of its manufacture and whether this contributed to its financial position;

(2) if, in his talks with the British Leyland Motor Corporation, he will investigate the inability of that company to maintain production of bus chassis for export to a previously agreed schedule.

Mr. Meacher

Shortages and variation in the pattern of demand from double-deck to single-deck vehicles and back again to double-deck within the last few years have aggravated supply difficulties, but all aspects of the operations of British Leyland's activities fall within the remit of the team led by Sir Don Ryder, and my hon. Friend's observations will be drawn to the attention of the team.
