§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe Great Seal of Northern Ireland is kept in Belfast by the Clerk of the Crown who holds it on behalf of the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. The Great Seal is used regularly for sealing official documents such as Letters Patent, Commissions of Assize, election writs and the appointments of judges and lords lieutenant. It would not, therefore, be appropriate or practicable to make it available for public exhibition.
