§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Minister for Overseas Development what is his estimate of the value of increased benefit in real terms after allowing for currency fluctuation, and United Kingdom and overseas inflation, of the £1.9 million increase in bilateral and capital assistance to dependent territories as in section C3 of Class II, 8, Supplementary Estimates.
§ Mr. PrenticeThe increase is required to cover both the effects of inflation and currency fluctuations, and revised estimates of the territories' deficit. It is not practicable to estimate the effect of this in real terms.
